Introduction
Classrooms
The children with the teachers have access to 2 spacious classrooms, a huge park with a playground and the church sanctuary and hall with a stage for theatre productions.
As a Christian Kindergarten we operate under the auspices of the Evangelical Lutheran Church North Rand and are represented by the Pastor and the Church Council.
Our facilities cater for the Age group of 18 months to 5 years (Grade 00) .
Due to our small class size we can focus on giving children the individual attention they need, to grow their cognitive and gross motor skills. The children are supervised by a qualified bilingual teacher with the support of an experienced assistant.
Educational Goals
The Kindergarten aims at supporting and enriching the family unit. Our educational goal is to develop every aspect of the child’s life in a warm and nurturing environment.
We focus on teaching:
- Fine and Gross motor skills
- Exploring Mathematics
- Creativity
- Communication & language
- Knowledge and understanding the world and the love of learning.
We place emphasis on the enjoyment of creative activity than on achievement and focus on each individual child.
We aim to develop the child’s personality and social skills. The bilingual teachers speak German and English to the children and we actively familiarize the children with German and South African culture and traditions. Being a Christian Kindergarten, we teach Christian values by means of songs, games, prayers and celebrations.
There are “intra-murals” and outings added to the program, which take place during the school day, which are for the parent’s own expense.
Once a week the church bell rings and the children attend a short devotion in the church, on the premises.
Parent's role
The interaction between the parents and the Kindergarten staff is an important aspect of our educational policy. We place great value in your involvement and co-operation.
For every new beginning of the school year, a parent class representative is chosen for each class group. These representatives serve on the Kindergarten committee and help the teacher with keeping an open communication between the parents and the teaching staff and offer support with special occasions and planning of class get togethers.
Holiday Club
Holiday Club is inclusive of the fees for enrolled children and available for external children at an additional cost.
Parents are requested to keep to this timetable, for the sake of the smooth running of the Kindergarten.
Our responsibility for your child’s safety begins when the child is placed in the staff’s care and ends when the child is fetched by whoever is authorised to do so.
